For Players

Players of the E-RPG System and the Sagas RPG know that playing a game you not only experience, but contribute to is an experience unlike any other. Role-playing games have always given players opportunities to create their own characters and games. Sagas takes this further.

There are games which are action oriented. Others are dependant on settings, genres, or styles. Even universal or generic games tend to only focus on the characters and what they can play in. Each of these games focus on a particular player’s interests. Unfortunately not every player shares the same interest in their game. While one player finds combat and the elements relating to building the fiercest fighters, another is more interested in games with in depth and diverse magic systems. Still others prefer to explore plot and character development. Few games offer simple enough systems to make every element accessible, while still allowing for huge depth within each interest. Sagas was developed with this in mind.

Every element of the game is developed to be simple enough for any player to latch onto. However, there is a depth to each of these systems that an entire game could be designed around one of these elements. For instance, vehicles are simple enough to own and drive and have a very basic mechanic that gets most players where they want to go. However, these simple rules mask the true depth found when explored during play. What can be resolved with a single test can beĀ  turned into an exploration of character, equipment, and tactical development. The rules for driving a car can be as simple as rolling a single die to resolve the entire issue, or can be turned into a full fledged game of demolition racing or vehicle combat.

This versatility expands to each game session as well. As you play the stories develop and you decide the next course of action. Situations are playable based on your interest at that time. In combat you can use simple hit and damage rolls, or expand the encounter with tactical movements and positioning, modifiers, etc. It is customizable for each encounter, each moment, and each player.

Your interests will also have a reflection in play. A player interested in the combat mechanics will play a better fighter, while one interested in computer hacking and development can find no end to the enjoyment they will find in creating unique viruses and other programs.

Sagas offers you a new way to play, a new experience. It is your game. You should be able to play the way you want. You should be playing Sagas.
